About Lume & Bezel

Lume & Bezel is a small independent reference site about automatic watches. It is organized around the questions people ask before and after they buy one, starting with the big one: will it fit my wrist. Each page tries to answer one question fully, with the direct answer first.

What you will find here

  • Fit and sizing notes: wrist size, case diameter, lug to lug and bracelet sizing.
  • Explainers on movements, water resistance, dive, field, dress and GMT watches, and the main brand lineups.
  • Tools that check a watch against your wrist or decode a water resistance rating.
  • Narrow gear guides, each about one kind of watch, winder or box.

Where the numbers come from

Specs come from the makers' published spec sheets and manuals, and from standards such as ISO 6425 for dive watches. Fit guidelines are common rules of thumb, not measurements of your wrist. Where sources disagree we give a range instead of a single figure, and we say so. The manual for your watch always wins where it differs from a general rule.

How gear is chosen

We do not run a test bench and we do not claim hands-on testing. Gear guides compare products by what their Amazon listings state. How we pick gear explains the method and its limits.

How the site is paid for

Links to Amazon are affiliate links. If you buy through one, the site may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. That is the only income. Nobody pays to be included, and a product is never listed because of its commission. See the affiliate disclosure.
